Frequently Asked Questions
What is Green Lane Senior Relocations?
Simply put,Green Lane Senior Relocations is a professional moving service that specializes in assisting older adults and their families with the emotional and physical aspects of downsizing and relocation.
Why should I hire Green Lane over a traditional moving company?
All our services are performed by our own in-house, licensed, bonded, uniformed, trained and insured employees. Traditional movers are not familiar with the particular needs of seniors, and often outsource using day laborers to get your job done.
Can you help me figure out what I can fit into my new smaller home?
Absolutely! Green Lane has certified designers on staff who can draw an individualized floor plan of your new home. These floor plans will show which items will comfortably fit in your new smaller space. He will also give adequate space for safe passage throughout your new home.
What am I going to do with the things I don't have room for?
We can help with appraisals, antique repair and restoration and auctions and we have a relationship with a consignment organization that can help turn your unwanted items into cash. Or, if you want to give items to family, friends or a favorite charity, Green Lane Relocations can help with that as well.
How much will all this cost?
Each client is different. We will sit down with you to discuss your needs and will provide a proposal based on the services you desire. You will find that the bid we submit will be very competitive.
Will it cost more than if I do everything myself?
We encourage our clients and their families to actively participate in the relocation process. However, our clients usually find that the cost and challenges associated with moving themselves far exceeds the cost to the relocation specialists. Additionally, the amount our clients save in the physical and emotional tolls of moving is… PRICELESS!
Can I hire you as the mover only, since my family is going to help with all of the packing and unpacking?
Of course. We would be happy to work with any senior client, regardless of how much additional assistance they may need during their relocation.
I live out of state, but I need to help my parents move to a retirement community near their current location. Do I need to be there during the relocation process?
Frequently we act as a liaison between the senior community, our senior clients and their out of state family members. Throughout the entire relocation process we can keep you fully informed, so it is not necessary for you to be present.
How much time in advance should I be scheduling your company prior to my relocation?
It's always better to plan ahead. Downsizing a home can be a lengthy process even with expert guidance. The sooner we begin, the more likely a smooth, stress-free relocation will be accomplished.
What is this "White Glove" delivery you mention?
It is the the extra-delicate handling and care your fragile, upholstered or high-value posessions deserve – and an extra level of attention to detail our clients will appreciate. From the white gloves and protective booties our delivery teams wear to the blankets and floor runners they use, it's an added value experience of which we are proud.
